As Nigerians celebrate the nation’s 63rd independence anniversary, the chairman of Emohua local government area, Dr. Chidi Lloyd has restated the call for collective responsibility in sustaining the new narrative about the local government area.
He said the local government area was over the years known for many negative tendencies, including insecurity which previously affected the development of the area but noted that the area is currently making news headlines for good reasons, stressing that all hands must be on deck to sustain the new narrative for the overall development of the area.
Dr Lloyd stated this at the 2023 independence anniversary celebration held in low key at the Emohua local government council parade ground on Sunday.
He said the low-key celebration became necessary following the economic challenges witnessed across Nigeria, occasioned by the implementation of the fuel subsidy removal policy of the federal government.
The council chairman urged the people of the area to support the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the New Rivers Vision consolidation and continuity administration of His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, stressing that a brighter future was already in view in Nigeria.
Speaking further, Dr Lloyd commended the security agencies and special security units in Emohua local government area for their untiring efforts towards sustaining the prevalent peace and security in the area.
The council chairman said his administration had already taken necessary steps to secure approval for creating two additional police divisions in Emohua local government area, for effective policing and crime fighting in the area.
The two additional police divisions if approved, Dr. Lloyd disclosed his administration’s readiness to provide befitting accommodation for their take off, in line with his commitment to the security of lives and properties in the area.
He attributed the infrastructure revolution witnessed across Emohua local government area under his administration to the prevalent peace and security in the area, emphasizing that the two additional police divisions would go a long way in sustaining peace and security in the area, with a view to improving on the achievements of his administration.
As the local government await approval for the creation of the additional police divisions, Dr Chidi Lloyd has enjoined the people of the area to be of good conduct and support the war against crime and criminality in the area by providing reliable information to aid the operations of security personnel in the area, for the overall development of the area, reiterating that Emohua local government area would no longer be a hiding place for criminals.
Highpoint of the independence anniversary celebration was the inspection of the guard of honour and parade by members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
Earlier, Dr. Lloyd led principal officers and political office holders in Emohua local government, as well as relevant stakeholders to Baptist Church Isiodu-Emohua for an interdenominational thanksgiving service, as part of the activities marking Nigeria’s 63rd independence anniversary, where the council chairman enjoined the body of Christ to pray for the peace and progress of the local government area, Rivers State and Nigeria at large.
